Grunt Work
Grunt Work - A reverse RTS, where you play as a unit being controlled! Made for GMTK Game Jam 2023.
Can you obey The Gamer without getting yourself killed?
Six levels, each presenting its own unique challenge.
Notes:
- The game doesn't seem to work properly in Firefox. Use Chrome or download the desktop version.
- There is no music (but there are homemade sound effects!).
- The graphics are left up to your imagination :)
- Tip for the tutorial (first level): wait for your teammates to attack first, then attack one enemy at a time.
- F11 toggles fullscreen.
Walkthrough in case you're stuck (SPOILERS):
- Level 1: Wait for your teammates to attack first, then attack one enemy at a time, starting with the weakest one.
- Level 2: Immediately move to the left edge of the screen, go down past the mines, then kill the enemies one by one.
- Level 3: Move into the middle of your teammates on the left so that the Gamer will accidentally select them, then attack the enemies together.
- Level 4: Lure the bottom enemy into a mine, then attack the rest with your teammates, then when your health is low lure the remaining enemies into the closest mines.
- Level 5: Follow closely behind your teammates and attack as a group, retreat to the heart when your health is low, then pick off the remaining enemies. (This level is hard).
- Level 6: Immediately move to the bottom right, get between the enemies and your teammates so that you tank the damage, then move back to the left once the enemies are mostly dead. (This level is very hard).
